Movie theaters to go to in Metro Manila

November 18th, 2021 | Share via:

The cinema is almost everyone’s favorite destination because here, they can watch the newest blockbuster with their loved ones. Cinemas in the Philippines are showing locally-made films every December to showcase the country’s best films with their actors having award-winning performances and production getting improved each year.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the industry of film and theatre has been on a different spot because of safety protocols as Metro Manila is always on a high alert level. Today, everything seems to be slowly getting back to normal for the audience and the performer because movie theaters are now allowed to operate, under safety measures of course.

List of big screen openings

Now that cinemas in Philippines are already open. You are probably wondering where the best cinema is to watch your preferred movies.

Evia Lifestyle Center, Vista Cinemas

One of the best cinemas in Philippines where you can watch this pandemic is in Evia Lifestyle Center. The price might be a little high-priced compared to other movie theatres on this list. But, your ticket purchase here will guarantee one of the best cinema experiences you will ever have.

The Evia Lifestyle Center cinema is spacious even if it has reclined seats. The best thing about this theater is not its spaciousness, but the experience you will have if you decide to watch a movie via IMAX with laser that delivers sharper images with increased resolution that elevates a film director’s work of art.

Another feature that this movie theater has is its MX4D technology. With this technology, you can feel as if you’re included in the movie by making the audience feel the scene’s environment, effects, scent, humidity, and motion.

This technology is the first of its kind in the Philippines and you cannot find another movie theater on this list that has this technology. To put it into perspective, this is an improved and better version of the 4DX theaters we have.

Besides Evia Lifestyle Center, other Vista Malls Cinemas are opening its doors to moviegoers as well. You can also watch movies is Vista Mall Taguig, Daang Hari, General Trias, Naga, Tanza, Dasmariñas, Malolos, Bataan, Pampanga, Sta. Rosa, and Iloilo.

Uptown Cinema

Uptown Cinema is known for its “luxurious cinema” theme.  Uptown Mall is a good cinema if you are planning to go on a movie date because the seats have a button that allows you to get snacks without having to leave your seat. Uptown Mall gives you that opportunity to not leave your partner’s side during movie screenings.

Power Plant Cinema

Power Plant Cinema probably has great UV light before and after screening. They also serve buttered popcorn that moviegoers love. If you decide to watch a movie in this cinema, you will also experience the intensity of every scene. One can say that the specialty of this cinema is its ambiance that makes moviegoers as comfortable as they can so the audience can just focus on the actors’ performances and dramas.

UP Town Center Cinema

UP Town Center Cinema uses a technology called the 4DX experience. This is the same technology used in Enchanted Kingdom’s Rialto. With this technology, you should expect a lot of shaking, tilting, nudges and smell different scents on your seat. But, you should not be worried because these are synchronized to what is going on in the movie.

Through their “Sa Sine Safe Ka” campaign, the independent body Cinema Exhibitors Association of the Philippines (CEAP) announced their detailed set of protocols for reopening cinemas so people can watch their favorite movies safely.

These protocols are in line with the As per the Inter-Agency Task Force’s (IATF) rule of allowing theaters to operate with only 30% full capacity catering to only fully-vaccinated individuals. These protocols include:

  • A body temperature check before going inside the theater
  • Avoid as much contact as possible in ticket purchase
  • Mandatory hand washing every 30 minutes for cinema employees
  • Inspection of vaccination cards
  • Cinema employees deep cleaning between screenings
  • Eating inside theatres is prohibited
  • Prohibition to watch for people experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms
  • Reduced seating capacity for social distancing
  • Mandatory wear of face masks and face shields inside the cinema

Films now showing to your local movie theater

If you are a fan of horror and sci-fi flicks, then you should watch A Quiet Place Part II starring real-life couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt. The movie adaptation of the classic novel Dune is already showing in cinemas. Other films you should watch out for are the 007 film No Time to Die and Marvel Studios’ Sang Chi that will be released on November 17 and 24 respectively.

Should you go to cinemas in Metro Manila?

If you are a fully-vaccinated individual with no signs of COVID-19 symptoms, you definitely should go out with your friends and family to watch a movie in a cinema in Philippines. You should just make sure that you are there to follow the necessary protocols and be considerate of others if you want to visit one of the big screens on this list.

But if you are not qualified to watch in cinemas yet, you can always go for the alternative and watch movies via Netflix at home.

It is delightful to see that the world is slowly getting back on its feet and everything is getting back to normal. As citizens, you should do your part as well to make others safe by following safety protocols and getting vaccinated. As they say, all the world’s a stage, and doing our part gets this stage safe for all of its performers.
